This video is a segment of a Southern Pacific freight train as it passes through Santa Clara, California. The train was originated in the Pacific Northwest and was routed down the SP's Coast Line due to maintenance work on the Tehachapi Pass line that the train would normally take. In rail lingo, this was a JRLAPK (James River to Los Angeles Paper "Key") train. A Key train is one that has a cargo of hazardous materials included in the consist.
